Are you working in a stud or stable?

If you’ve already launched your career in racing, this part of the site’s especially for you. It’s got lots of information on the people and bodies that are there to provide you with support. From the National Association of Stable Staff (formerly Stable Lads Association, to Racing Welfare and even Stable and Stud Staff awards, it’s all here.

Are you a Jockey looking for your next career move?

JETS was set up in 1995 to help current and former British jockeys plan and achieve a secure future.   Early retirement is inevitable for jockeys and the injury risk is high: Flat racing jockeys are 40 on average when their careers end, and for National Hunt jockeys it is just 35.

JETS offers jockeys career coaching, to make them aware of their strengths, attributes and transferable skills from race riding. It holds group training sessions in IT and media broadcast skills. Jockeys also benefit from grants to take up individual training courses. For more information visit the JETS website here.

The National Joint Council for Stable Staff is the negotiating body for stable staff pay and conditions. It combines representatives of both the Stable Lads Association and the National Trainers Federation. They have recently announced details of a new agreement on Racing Industry Minimum Rates of Pay which will take effect from 1st February 2006. Details of these new rates will be updated in the Memorandum of Agreement from February onwards.
