Great Racehorses of the Decade
For centuries, the sport of kings has celebrated the majesty of the thoroughbred racehorse, in all of his pomp and beauty.
Decades of the turf are woven into the fabric of the sport's rich history with the supreme achievements of these truly great champions.
The 1950s will forever be associated with the mighty Italian champion, Ribot, while in the 60s, racing marvelled at the French trained wonder Sea Bird.
A triumvirate of turf giants dominated the early 1970s, as Nijinsky, Mill Reef and Brigadier Gerard set imperious standards in equine greatness.
The 80s produced the legendary Shergar and brilliant performers such as El Gran Senor and Nashwan, and yet this was a decade that will forever be remembered as Dancing Brave's era - indeed we haven't seen one to equal this pivotal champion since, while Generous and Peintre Celebre were amoung the finest of the 90s.
The following is a selection of some of the greatest racehorses to have graced the flat in the last 10 years.
