Dascombe raises Ceiling sights

Tom Dascombe's Queen Mary Stakes winner Ceiling Kitty will test her mettle against her elders in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York on August 24.

Already a Listed winner on the Knavesmire, she stepped up on that at Royal Ascot to win the Group Two prize.

Dascombe is now set to raise Ceiling Kitty's sights as he would rather receive weight against the best sprinters over five furlongs than give weight away to her peers.

Lyric Fantasy and Kingsgate Native have made full use of the big allowance on the Knavesmire as two-year-olds.

"We were drawn well, got a great lead and the race was over one furlong out," Dascombe told At The Races.

"It was fantastic for the owner (Andrew Black) and great for the yard.

"I think instead of giving away a penalty, we'll take on her elders in the Nunthorpe. It's a big ask but has been done before, and it's a big ask giving 3lb to improving fillies also.

"They (Lyric Fantasy and Kingsgate Native) were very good horses and she's not quite there yet, but you've got to have a plan."
