Graham Wylie (jump)
Nationality: British Regular Trainer: Howard Johnson Regular Jockey: Denis O'Reagan

Racing Background- Graham made a sudden appearance on the British racing scene in late 2003, making an immediate impact with his recently purchased high-class string of horses who soon began to feature regularly in the winner’s enclosure.
- Having considered other spending options, including purchasing a few shares in Newcastle United football team, Graham made the decision to have a serious crack at racehorse ownership.
- Before making a large-scale investment in racehorse ownership, Graham was introduced to the sport by a friend who persuaded him to buy a horse back in 2002. The horse was Lord Transcend, whom he bought from Howard Johnson, giving him a fantastic introduction to the sport through his victories in all but one of his starts over hurdles.
- Through the assistance of trainer Howard Johnson, and within a very short space of time, he purchased a large string of horses ranging from yearlings to experienced chasers.
- Inglis Drever is the best horse ever owned by Graham, and one of the all time greats. He won the World Hurdle a fantastic 3 consecutive times, amongst other feats, before his sad early retirement to injury in 2009. He will be remembered as one of the best hurdlers ever.
- Graham’s greatest memory was the day that Inglis Drever held on to win his third World Hurdle
- Graham would always encourage others to become involved in ownership, saying, ‘I get more pleasure from buying a horse and watching it run, than I have ever had from buying a business and watching it grow’.
Other Hobbies and Interests
- Graham is a keen supporter of Newcastle United. He rarely missed a match before his involvement in horseracing, but now finds his loyalties seriously divided on days when both the team is playing and his horses are running.
- In early 2004, the directors of Newcastle and Sedgefield Racecourses invited Graham to become a non-executive director. They felt he would be a great asset because of his vast experience of business, having established and developed the large software company, Sage, coupled with the fact that he is a staunch supporter of racing and very familiar with the North East region.
- Graham’s star-sign is Leo.
- His favourite film is ‘The Godfather’.
- Much of Graham’s spare time is spent managing his various business interests, however he enjoys a round of golf when time allows.
- His wife is a keen breeder of Rottweilers, which she competes in the show ring. She has been particularly successful, with one of the dogs she owns winning Best of Beed at Crufts in 2003.
- Graham identifies his only bad habit as a tendency to drink too much!
