Welcome to our handy guide to some of the biggest colours in racing!
Every race horse owner must register at least one, unique set of colours (or 'silks'). This enables punters and stewards to quickly identify runners and who they belong to.
Such is the demand for certain designs that some colours can sell for thousands, or even tens of thousands, of pounds. Cherished colours, those that have a particularly interesting or long history, are often the most expensive, as are 'plain' silks consituted of just a single colour (for example Godolphin's Royal Blue, or John and Sue Magnier's Dark Blue).
So take a look at the designs below and if you think you've got a better idea for a design, or if you fancy buying your own set, then remember to check out our Racing Colours Page. Even if you just want to play around with some combinations, then feel free to have an experiment and see what suits you best! If you need some inspiration, check out Our Favourites at the bottom of this page!
