- Newcastle, 1 February 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Killian Moore the rider of WESTWIRE TOBY (IRE), which was pulled up, had used his whip in the forehand position, turning into the back straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Rule (B)54.2 and guilty of improper riding in that he had used his whip contrary to the conditions of the race. They suspended Moore for 7 days as follows: Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, Friday 24, Wednesday 29 February, Thursday 1 and Friday 2 March 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Wilson Renwick, the rider of FRANK THE SLINK, placed third, from the fourth last fence. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. As the offence warranted a suspension at the upper level, the Stewards suspended Renwick for 5 days as follows: Wednesday 15 to Sunday 19 February 2012 inclusive.
The Stewards noted that FRANK THE SLINK, placed third, had interfered with ALPHA ONE (IRE), unplaced, after the seventh last fence, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved FRANK THE SLINK’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Adam Nichol the rider of LOGICAL APPROACH (IRE), at about the position of the third hurdle. They interviewed Adam Nichol and Denis O’Regan, the rider of BROCKWELL ABBEY. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by LOGICAL APPROACH ducking out. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards took no further action.

- Kempton Park, 1 February 2012
The Starter reported that CHAUD LAPIN, trained by Anthony Carson, was unruly in the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and he was informed that the colt could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that SANNIBEL, placed second, ridden by David Probert, had interfered with the winner, CATS EYES, ridden by Shane Kelly. The Stewards found Probert in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Wednesday, 15 and Thursday, 16 February 2012.
The record of vaccinations in the passport of KING OF WINDSOR (IRE), trained by Keith Dalgleish, did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined him £140.
The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Veterinary Officer that FIRST BATTALION (IRE), trained by Paul Rich, could not be identified from its passport and therefore the gelding could not run. They interviewed the trainer’s representative and the Veterinary Officer. Having heard their evidence the Stewards referred the matter to the British Horseracing Authority.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately six furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that CAIRANNE, placed second, ridden by Ryan Clark, had interfered with the winner, EMERALD ROYAL, ridden by Shane Kelly, which in turn interfered with SUNSET BOULEVARD (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Nathan Alison. The Stewards found the interference was accidental.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Liam Keniry, the rider of TEEN AGER (FR), had been slow to remove the blindfold. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the start, they accepted his explanation that as he went to remove the blind the gelding became restless.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Mark Coumbe, the rider of AIN’T TALKIN, unplaced, from two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they accepted his explanation and found him not in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2.
The Stewards wished to enquire into possible interference involving GAY GALLIVANTER, unplaced, ridden by Nicky Mackay and TEEN AGER (FR), unplaced, ridden by Liam Keniry, inside the final furlong. They were unable to do so as Mackay and Keniry had left the racecourse. They therefore adjourned the enquiry until Sunday 5 February 2012 at Kempton Park.
