The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, HAWAII KLASS, ridden by Wilson Renwick and trained by Donald Whillans, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 20 February where the gelding finished unplaced, beaten approximately 29 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding benefited from the run at Carlisle having had a break of 79 days. They ordered HAWAII KLASS to be routine tested.

The Stewards noted that the winner, KRIS CROSS (IRE), had interfered with PLUS JAMAIS (FR), placed third, who in turn interfered with BUFFALO BALLET, placed second, approximately two furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved KRIS CROSS (IRE)’s placing.
