- Hexham, 15 March 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of RUFF DIAMOND (USA), ridden by Ewan Whillans and trained by David Thompson, which appeared to be tenderly ridden in the back straight before finishing third, beaten approximately 23 ¼ lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer who confirmed that RUFF DIAMOND (USA) was post race normal. The rider stated he was to jump off handily, get the gelding into a rhythm and get him jumping. He explained that he did not want to chase the gelding when off the bridle down the hill in the back straight. He added that he had made an effort after the second last and felt that he had obtained the best possible placing. The trainer confirmed that they were his instructions and added that he felt the gelding should probably have been a little closer early in the race. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted their explanations.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, CILLISEAL (IRE), ridden by Derek Fox and trained by Noel C. Kelly, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative who stated that the gelding was suited by the stiffer track. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of CILLISEAL (IRE) could be reviewed.

- Wolverhampton, 15 March 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference approaching the line. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, THATCHERITE (IRE), ridden by Stephen Craine, had interfered with ALHABAN (IRE), placed second, ridden by Luke Morris. They found the interference was accidental and had not improved THATCHERITE (IRE)’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
