The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that TATISPOUT (FR), ridden by Aidan Coleman and trained by Charlie Longsdon, had refused to race. They interviewed the trainer’s representative and the Starter. Having heard their evidence, the Stewards informed the representative that future similar behaviour may result in the mare being reported to the British Horseracing Authority.

- Uttoxeter, 17 March 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference shortly before the finish. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, TRIP THE LIGHT, ridden by Matt Griffiths, had interfered with PAMPELONNE (IRE), placed second, ridden by Kielan Woods, and that the interference had not improved TRIP THE LIGHT’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered. The Stewards found Griffiths in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his horse to drift left-handed. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2012.
The Stewards noted that AEGEAN DESTINY, unplaced, had interfered with PAMPELONNE (IRE), placed second, who in turn interfered with BLUE DESTINATION, unplaced, exiting the back straight, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
The Stewards noted that QUINTE DU CHATELET (FR), unplaced, had interfered with BUNCLODY, unplaced, who in turn had interfered with BASFORD BOB (IRE), unplaced, having jumped the fourth last hurdle, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, MASTER OVERSEER (IRE), ridden by Tom Scudamore and trained by David Pipe, compared with its previous run at Chepstow on 27 December 2011 where the gelding was pulled up. Having received a report of the trainer’s explanation that he had no reason for the poor run last time but considered the gelding had been given time to freshen up, was better suited by the good to soft ground and the step up to four miles, they decided not to hold an enquiry and ordered MASTER OVERSEER (IRE) to be routine tested.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, BALTIC PATHFINDER (IRE), ridden by Ryan Mania and trained by Sue Smith, compared with its previous run at Towcester on 28 February where the gelding finished seventh, beaten by 43 lengths. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the gelding seemed to settle better on this occasion. They ordered BALTIC PATHFINDER (IRE) to be routine tested.

- Newcastle, 17 March 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Jonathan England, the rider of the winner, CLOUDY TOO (IRE), after the final hurdle. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip when clearly winning. The Stewards suspended England for 2 days as follows: Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference after the last hurdle. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that there was interference between the winner, RED MERLIN (IRE), ridden by Jason Maguire, and ARCTIC COURT (IRE), placed second, ridden by Brian Harding. They found the interference was accidental and had not improved RED MERLIN’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of SMART RULER (IRE), ridden by Joel Belbin and trained by James Moffatt, which was tenderly ridden throughout the race to finish third, beaten some 21 lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer who confirmed that the gelding was post race normal. The rider stated that his instructions were to settle at the back of the field, creep through and do his best. He added that he missed the break and found himself detached, but felt that the other runners were going too quick and would come back to him. The trainer stated that his instructions were to drop SMART RULER (IRE) in, but he was not happy with the ride as the rider had given too much ground away at the start and had not made enough effort throughout the race. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (B)59.4 and guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing. They suspended him for 14 days as follows: Saturday 31 March to Thursday 5 April, Saturday 7 to Monday 9, Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 and Tuesday 17 April 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference after the last hurdle. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, VELVET VIC (IRE), ridden by James Davies, had interfered with DONNA ELVIRA, placed second, ridden by Robert Mccarth. The Stewards found Davies in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right without taking sufficient steps to prevent interference. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.

- Wolverhampton, 17 March 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, SABYS GEM (IRE), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by Michael Wigham, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that SABYS GEM (IRE) requires cover in his races which he was able to find on this occasion. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of SABYS GEM (IRE) could be reviewed.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of DIAMOND FIRE (IRE), ridden by Shane Kelly and trained by Adrian McGuinness, placed fourth, beaten two lengths, which appeared to be tenderly ridden. They interviewed the rider who stated that on this, his first ride on the gelding, his instructions were as DIAMOND FIRE (IRE) is a particularly difficult ride who requires coaxing to do his best, to drop his mount in and to make his run as late as possible. He added that he was able to settle DIAMOND FIRE (IRE) behind the leaders but that his mount showed signs of hanging right in the home straight when asked to quicken and he was blocked in his progress in the very final stages, a fact that he had reported at scales. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted his explanations.
The Stewards noted that FLOW CHART (IRE), placed third, had interfered with PRIGSNOV DANCER (IRE), unplaced, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a video recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved FLOW CHART (IRE)’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why SUPERPLEX, trained by John Quinn, arrived at the start wearing cheek pieces that had not been declared and therefore had to be withdrawn. Having heard his evidence they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6.1 and fined him £140.
The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference in the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that THE DANCING LORD, placed second, ridden by Ryan While, had interfered with MISS PURITY PINKER (IRE), placed third, ridden by Martin Lane, and that the interference had not improved THE DANCING LORD’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered. The Stewards found While in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift to the right without sufficient correction. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2012.
