The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, OSTENTATION, ridden by Joe Fanning, had interfered with SHY, placed fourth, ridden by Cathy Gannon. The Stewards found Fanning in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Amir Quinn, the rider of the winner, ARCHELAO (IRE), from entering the home straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Quinn for 2 days as follows: Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April 2012.
The record of vaccinations in the passport of HOT CHERRY, trained by H. Edward Haynes, did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined him £140.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, RUSSIAN STORM, ridden by Jemma Marshall and trained by Pat Phelan, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative who stated that since its last run it has recovered from an abscess on its lung. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of RUSSIAN STORM could be reviewed.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Jemma Marshall, the rider of the winner, RUSSIAN STORM, from entering the straight. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found her in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that she used her whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Marshall for 2 days as follows: Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April 2012.
The Stewards noted that RAAMZ (IRE), placed fourth, had interfered with FINDELN, unplaced, shortly after the start, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved RAAMZ (IRE)’s placing.
The Stewards noted that interference took place between FIBS AND FLANNEL, placed third, CATIVO CAVALLINO, unplaced, and SHARED MOMENT (IRE), unplaced, about five furlongs out but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
The Stewards noted that the winner, SNOW TROOPER, had interfered with TWINKLED, unplaced, inside the final furlong but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved SNOW TROOPER’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by J-P Guillambert, the rider of SALIENT, placed second, in the straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Guillambert for 2 days as follows: Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April 2012.
The Stewards noted that the winner, FOUR BETTER, had interfered with EIGHTFOLD, unplaced, who then interfered with GALICIAN, placed third, approaching the furlong marker but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved FOUR BETTER’s placing.

The Stewards noted that the cheek piece had become detached from PRINCE TAM, placed fourth, during the race, however, being satisfied that the cheek piece was in a serviceable condition, they took no further action.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, MONSOON MUSIC (IRE), ridden by Campbell Gillies and trained by Lucinda Russell, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that she could offer no explanation other than the gelding jumped better than his rivals. Having heard her evidence they forwarded her explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of MONSOON MUSIC (IRE) could be reviewed.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, MISS ABBEY, ridden by Campbell Gillies and trained by Dianne Sayer, compared with its previous run at Catterick on 28 February where the mare finished unplaced, beaten 23 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the mare was better suited by the faster ground. They ordered MISS ABBEY to be routine tested.
The Stewards noted that SANDMAN (GER), placed fourth, ridden by Campbell Gillies, failed to enter the unsaddling enclosure. Having received a report from the Veterinary Officer, they took no further action.

The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, GLOBAL FLYER, ridden by Andrew Thornton and trained by Caroline Bailey, compared with its previous run at Newbury on 2 March where the gelding pulled up, when the trainer could offer no explanation for the poor run. They noted the trainer could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form and ordered GLOBAL FLYER to be routine tested.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, HI DANCER, ridden by Craig Gallagher and trained by Ben Haslam, compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 6 March where the gelding finished fifth beaten approximately 22 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding appeared suited by the better ground and generally runs well in the spring. They ordered HI DANCER to be routine tested.
Peter Niven, the trainer of MEADOW MIX, unplaced, reported the mare ran without a tongue strap because it had come adrift and could not be re-fitted.

The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Chris Catlin, the rider of the winner, BILIDN, from approximately two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Catlin for 9 days as follows: Friday 13, Saturday 14, Monday 16, Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, Thursday 19, Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Monday 23 April 2012.
