    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Kielan Woods, the rider of INCH ROVER (IRE), placed second, from leaving the back straight on the final circuit. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Woods for 2 days as follows: Sunday 15 and Tuesday 17 April 2012.

  • Doncaster, 31 March 2012

    The Stewards noted that REVE DE NUIT (USA), unplaced, had interfered with KAY GEE BE (IRE), unplaced, which in turn interfered with CROWN COUNSEL (IRE), unplaced, which in turn interfered with CAPTAIN BERTIE (IRE), placed fourth, approximately two furlongs out but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Tony Hamilton, the rider of the winner, BRAE HILL (IRE), from approaching the final furlong. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Hamilton for t2 days as follows: Saturday 14 and Monday 16 April 2012.

    The Stewards noted that LELAPS (USA), placed third, had interfered with MINIMISE RISK, placed second, approaching the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards noted that LAST SHADOW, unplaced, had interfered with SIR GRAHAM WADE (IRE), unplaced, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards noted that BEAT OF THE BLUES, unplaced had interfered with VEROON (IRE), unplaced, on the bend turning into the straight, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of JUDICIOUS, ridden by Robert Winston and trained by Geoffrey Harker, which finished unplaced, beaten 7¼ lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer, in which he stated that the gelding was found to be lame on post-race examination. They also heard observations from the Handicapper. The rider stated that his instructions were to drop in from a wide draw, get the horse settled and try and get a run in the straight. He added that the gelding was unhappy on what he felt was loose ground and that he was denied a clear run in the straight, both of which he had reported at Scales. The trainer confirmed the instructions and added that he was satisfied with the ride. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted their explanations.

    The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that XCLAIM, trained by Micky Hammond, was unruly in the stalls and withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test. This being the second occasion within the previous 12 months that XCLAIM had been reported, the Stewards informed the trainer that if the gelding were reported for a third time within the same period, XCLAIM would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.

    The Stewards noted that THRASOS (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with GHAZEER (IRE), unplaced, who in turn interfered with JAY BEE BLUE, unplaced, who in turn interfered with DANCE WITH ME (IRE), unplaced, who in turn interfered with MAYFORDE JACK, unplaced, shortly after the start, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the first bend. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that NAZREEF, unplaced, ridden by Darryll Holland, had interfered with WILLIAM HAIGH (IRE), unplaced, ridden by P.J. McDonald, who in turn interfered with ESHTIBAAK (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Paul Hanagan. The Stewards found Holland in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Saturday 14 and Monday 16 April 2012.

    The Stewards noted that WILLIAM HAIGH (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with ESHTIBAAK (IRE), unplaced, approaching the first bend, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards noted that REFLECT (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with FRANCO IS MY NAME, unplaced, approaching the line, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Starter reported that NEW LEYF (IRE), trained by Ed Walker, was unruly and reluctant to load. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by J.P. Guillambert, the rider of NEW LEYF (IRE), placed second, from one and a half furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Guillambert for 2 days as follows: Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 April 2012.

    The Stewards noted that FARLOW (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with SACROSANCTUS, unplaced, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

  • Uttoxeter, 31 March 2012

    The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, AN CAPALL MOR (IRE), ridden by Jason Maguire and trained by Donald McCain, compared with its previous run at Ludlow on the 1 March where the gelding finished fifth beaten over 46 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding may have benefited from first time application of tongue strap and cheek pieces. They ordered AN CAPALL MOR (IRE) to be routine tested.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Andrew Thornton, the rider of NOBLE LEGEND, in the closing stages. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip in the incorrect place. The Stewards suspended Thornton for 2 days as follows: Sunday 15 and Tuesday 17 April 2012.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Tom Molloy, the rider of RORY BOY (USA), unplaced, in the back straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip with excessive force. The Stewards suspended Molloy for 2 days as follows: Sunday 15 and Tuesday 17 April 2012.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Tom Molloy, the rider of WESTLIN’WINDS (IRE), placed second, in the home straight having jumped the penultimate flight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip with excessive force. The Stewards suspended Molloy for 4 days as follows: Wednesday 18 April to Saturday 21 April 2012 inclusive.

    The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, COPSEHILL GIRL (IRE), ridden by Richard Killoran and trained by Bill Moore, compared with its previous run at Wetherby on the 21 February where the mare finished unplaced beaten over 70 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the mare was fitter on the second run and benefited from a weaker race. They ordered COPSEHILL GIRL (IRE) to be routine tested.
