What is the Order of Merit?
Simply put, it’s an adrenalin-charged series of the best
Jump races featuring the best horses during the winter season.
The 68 graded races which make up the Series are held from October
through to April.
Races are won and lost and the points are awarded accordingly,
creating a truly prestigious Championship. The combined team,
made up of the horse, jockey, trainer stable staff and owner,
that consistently maintains its form in such a top class field
over the season, will be crowned champions. It’s that
simple and ultimately, that tough.
How does the Points System work?
The way the competition is scored has been designed
to reflect the relevant grade of each race and the horse’s
finishing position, therefore rewarding both excellence and
participation.
| Finishing position | Grade 1 races | Grade 2 races | Grade 3 races | | 1st | 20 | 15 | 10 | | 2nd | 16 | 12 | 8 | | 3rd | 12 | 10 | 6 | | 4th | 10 | 8 | 5 | | 5th | 8 | 6 | 4 | | 6th | 6 | 4 | 3 | | | | |
