On Wednesday 30 July BHA Chief Executive, Paul Bittar, spoke to Channel 4 during Glorious Goodwood, covering various issues including the recent morphine positive samples.

Paul emphasised that BHA cannot rule out the possibility of other positive samples but added that BHA is close to the end of the investigation and all indications suggest the positive samples are due to feed contamination.

He pointed out that as the regulatory body BHA has to see the investigation through to completion without speculating on the possible causes but added that BHA broke with normal protocol to advise the public in advance of the horses being named due the high profile nature of the investigation.

Paul made it clear that small field sizes is not a good advertisement for British racing and it remains his desire for BHA to address the issue of small field sizes and the fixture list to improve competitiveness of British racing.
