Lingfield Park May 7 – Three Races Provisionally Moved On To The All Weather Track

03 May 2016

  • New AWT races to close at noon on Wednesday, May 4

After recent rain, the Turf straight course beyond the 6f start at Lingfield is currently unraceable. With the potential for limited drying conditions, the three races set to take place over either 7f or 7f 140y on Saturday, May 7 may not be able to be staged. With this in mind, the British Horseracing Authority’s Racing Department, alongside the BHA Inspectorate and Lingfield’s Clerk Of The Course, has provisionally moved these races on to Lingfield’s AWT.

The provisional card consists of the four races to remain on Turf and the three races moved on to the AWT. One race, the 7f 140y Class 3 Handicap, will have its distance increased to One Mile And One Yard, due to the configuration of the AWT track.

Trainers wishing to enter their horse(s) in any of the three provisional AWT races must do so by noon on Wednesday, May 4.

The decision on whether to abandon the three Turf races and move them on to the AWT will be made, at the latest, by 4pm on Wednesday, May 4.

Declarations for all races at Lingfield on Saturday, May 7, be they Turf or All-Weather, will close in line with normal procedure at 10am on Thursday, May 5.

ARC Racing and Property Director, Stephen Higgins, said: “Despite an improvement in the weather we cannot be certain of being able to race beyond 6 furlongs on the straight turf course at Lingfield Park on Saturday. Therefore trainers are now being given the opportunity to also enter horses on a shadow all-weather card for the 7 furlong and 7 furlong 140 yards races. A decision about which surface to race on for these three races will be made on Wednesday prior to the declarations on Thursday morning. If trainers have any queries they should contact Lingfield Park’s Clerk of the Course Edward Arkell.”

Should the provisional card be activated, there will be a slight change to Saturday’s running order, with the first and last races changing positions. A revised, provisional running order follows below.

1:45 62130 The Betfred ‘Follow Us On Twitter’ Handicap Stakes (Class 4)
