BOND FASTRAC - DALE SWIFT
SOUTHWELL FIRST APRIL (AWT) MEETING 2012 The 32Red.com Handicap Stakes
The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority on 13 April 2012 considered an appeal lodged by Dale Swift, the rider of BOND FASTRAC, unplaced, in the 32Red.com Handicap Stakes, against the decision of the Stewards at Southwell on 3 April 2012 to find him guilty of careless riding and to suspend him from riding for 3 days.
The Panel heard evidence from Swift, who was legally represented, and Billy Cray, the rider of SUDDENLY SUSAN (IRE). It also viewed recordings of the race.
The Panel found that accidental interference occurred soon after the start which was initiated by CHOC’A’MOCA (IRE) ridden by Micky Fenton, which lunged to the right causing interference to SUDDENLY SUSAN (IRE) ridden by Billy Cray, who in turn interfered with BOND FASTRAC ridden by Dale Swift. This was exacerbated by MATA HARI BLUE ridden by Russ Kennemore, who became unbalanced from the pressure from his left. As a consequence MATA HARI BLUE drifted left tightening an already diminishing gap. The Panel considered that the interference was a continuation of the initial interference and therefore upheld the appeal and quashed the 3 day suspension.
