The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Sampling Officer that Campbell Gillies had provided a breath sample which was found to contain alcohol in a concentration above the threshold level for breath samples. They interviewed the rider and the Sampling Officer. Having heard their evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (D)65 and referred the matter to the British Horseracing Authority. Under Rule (D)66 the Stewards suspended Campbell Gillies from riding for the rest of the day.

The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, FROSTY LAD (IRE), ridden by Tony Kelly and trained by Ferdy Murphy, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that the gelding had benefited from a switch to fences in a poor race. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of FROSTY LAD (IRE) could be reviewed. The Stewards ordered FROSTY LAD (IRE) to be routine tested.

The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference on the bend turning into the home straight. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that SHANNAGARRY (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Jan Faltejsek, had interfered with PISTOL BASC (FR), unplaced, ridden by Lucy Alexander. The Stewards found Faltejsek in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift towards the rail. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.

The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by John Winston, the rider of EMPEROR CHARLIE, placed fourth, after the third last fence. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. As the offence warranted a suspension at the lower level, the Stewards suspended Winston for 4 days as follows: Sunday 18 to Wednesday 21 March 2012 inclusive.

The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, BLINKA ME, ridden by Killian Moore and trained by Alex Hales, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that the gelding had matured during a six month break. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of BLINKA ME could be reviewed.

The Stewards noted that the winner, BLINKA ME, ridden by Killian Moore and trained by Alex Hales, did not enter the Winners’ Enclosure but were satisfied that it was due to veterinary advice.
