The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Daniel Tudhope the rider of INCITEMENT, on the final bend turning into the home straight. They interviewed Tudhope and having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by the gelding sustaining an injury. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards took no further action.

The Starter reported that ROMANTICIZE, trained by Jason Ward, refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the mare could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Gary Mahon, the rider of ROSA LUXEMBURG, unplaced, from approximately two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip when out of contention. The Stewards suspended Mahon for 5 days as follows: Wednesday 18, Thursday 19, Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July 2012.

The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, OPERATEUR (IRE), ridden by Phillip Makin and trained by Ben Haslam, compared with its previous run at Redcar on 23 June where the gelding finished unplaced, beaten approximately 30 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding benefitted from the drop back in trip.

The Stewards suspended Quinlan for 4 days as follows: Wednesday 18 and Saturday 21, Sunday 22 and Monday 23 July 2012.

The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, COOL CASCADE, ridden by Harry Challoner and trained by Venetia Williams, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative who stated that the race had been a poor contest and the mare had benefited from the second-placed horse making a late mistake. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of COOL CASCADE could be reviewed. The Stewards ordered COOL CASCADE to be routine tested.
