    The Starter reported that TANGERINE TREES, trained by Bryan Smart, was the subject of a third criteria failure. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference around three furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that interference took place between ORTENSIA (AUS), unplaced, ridden by Craig A. Williams, and STEPPER POINT, unplaced, ridden by Martin Dwyer. They found the interference was accidental.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of William Buick the rider of THE NILE, on the turn for home. Having interviewed Buick and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by the colt suffering an injury. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards took no further action. The Stewards also noter that when THE NILE sustained its injury, ARNOLD LANE (IRE), FENCING (USA) and POWER, which were following, were hampered and severely checked.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference about six furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that SAIGON, unplaced, ridden by Kirsty Milczarek, had interfered with POWER, unplaced, ridden by Joseph O’Brien. They found the interference was accidental.

    The Stewards noted that MONTEREY (IRE), unplaced, which hung violently left, had interfered with SENTRY DUTY (FR), unplaced, approaching two furlongs out but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the two furlong marker. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, SIMEON, ridden by Ryan Moore, had interfered with ASHBRITTLE, unplaced, ridden by Paul Hanagan. The Stewards found Moore in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he manoeuvred left when not sufficiently clear. They suspended him for 3 days as follows: Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 July 2012.

    The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, TRADE SECRET, ridden by Robert Winston and trained by Mel Brittain, compared with its previous run at Thirsk on 12 May where the gelding finished unplaced, beaten 16 lengths. They noted the trainer could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately two furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that MR MO JO, unplaced, ridden by Robert Winston, had interfered with MYJESTIC MELODY (IRE), placed second, ridden by Daniel Tudhope, who in turn interfered with HAB REEH, unplaced, ridden by James Sullivan. The Stewards found Winston in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 July 2012.

Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that HAB REEH, unplaced, ridden by James Sullivan, had interfered with ARCH WALKER (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Paul Mulrennan. The Stewards found Sullivan in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 July 2012.

    The record of vaccinations in the passport of MAJOR DECISION (IRE), trained by David Rees, did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined him £140.

    The record of vaccinations in the passport of UP YOUR GAME (IRE), trained by Seamus Mullins, did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined him £140.

    The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Tom O’Brien, the rider of DINEUR (FR), had jumped the inspection hurdle prior to the start. Having heard his evidence they accepted his explanation that the gelding cocked his jaw and he was unable to prevent him from jumping the hurdle.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference shortly after the start. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that IT’S ONLY BUSINESS, placed third, ridden by Jake Payne, had interfered with MADAM MORETON, unplaced, ridden by Tom McLaughlin. The Stewards found Payne in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his colt to drift towards the rail. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 July 2012.

    The record of vaccinations in the passport of DAUNT (IRE), trained by Alison Hutchinson, did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined her £140.
