VAN DER ART, trained by Alan Jarvis, was doubly declared to run in THE DELOITTE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) at Ascot and THE BETFAIR SUMMER DOUBLE INTERNATIONAL STAKES (CLASS 2 HERITAGE HANDICAP) at Ascot and ran in the latter. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (F)96.2 and fined him £650.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Miss Hayley Moore, the rider of the winner, REDVERS (IRE), from approaching the furlong marker. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found her in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that she used her whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Miss Moore for 4 days as follows: Sunday 5, Monday 6, Thursday 9 and Wednesday 15 August 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, FANUNALTER, ridden by Olivier Peslier, had interfered with TULLIUS (IRE), placed third, ridden by Jimmy Fortune. The Stewards found Peslier in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he manoeuvred left. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Sunday 5 August 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Joseph O’Brien, the rider of ST NICHOLAS ABBEY (IRE), placed third from two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended O’Brien for 7 days as follows: Saturday 4, Sunday 5, Monday 6, Tuesday 7, Wednesday 8, Thursday 9 and Friday 10 August 2012. Under Rule (B)54 the Stewards also fined the rider £900.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Andrasch Starke, the rider of the winner, DANEDREAM (GER), two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level and in an incorrect place. The Stewards suspended Starke for 6 days as follows: Saturday 4, Sunday 5, Monday 6, Tuesday 7, Wednesday 8, and Thursday 9 August 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by William Buick, the rider of NATHANIEL (IRE), placed second, two furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Buick for 2 days as follows: Sunday 5 and Monday 6 August 2012.

The Stewards noted that MOSS QUITO (IRE), placed second, had interfered with WORDSAPLENTY (IRE), unplaced, leaving the starting stalls, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved MOSS QUITO (IRE)’s placing.
The Stewards noted that BALINKA, placed fourth, had interfered with FIRST SERVE (IRE), unplaced, approximately two furlongs out, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved BALINKA’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately three and a half furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, LOCKANTANKS, ridden by Charles Bishop, had interfered with DARUBAND, unplaced, ridden by William Twiston-Davies, who in turn interfered with ICY BLUE, unplaced, ridden by Tony Hamilton. They found the interference was accidental.
The Stewards noted that SPOSALIZIO (IRE), drawn stall 12, had anticipated the start and barged the gate at the same moment as the race had been started, thereby enabling the gelding to break quickly. Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, they took no further action.

The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that LOLLINA PAULINA, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, had broken out of the stalls. They interviewed the representative of Kevin Ryan, the trainer and the Starter. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the start the Stewards informed the trainer that future similar behaviour may result in the filly being reported to the British Horseracing Authority.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, HAZEL LAVERY (IRE), ridden by William Carson, and trained by Charles Hills, compared with its previous run at Ascot on 21 June over a mile and a half, where the filly finished eighth of fourteen beaten 20 lengths. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the yard is now in better form than it was in June. They ordered HAZEL LAVERY (IRE) to be routine tested.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Hayley Turner who had been declared to ride MARINE BOY (IRE), trained by Tom Dascombe, had refused to do so after weighing out. They interviewed the rider. Having heard her evidence the Stewards accepted the rider’s explanation that the gelding had been very unruly in the paddock and going onto the course and she was concerned for her safety.

The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, INAMALABALUSALOON (IRE), ridden by Mr Derek O’Connor and trained by Noel Glynn, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer’s representative who stated that the gelding had not run over hurdles for 2 years but had been running well in point to point races. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of INAMALABALUSALOON (IRE) could be reviewed.
On a report from the Veterinary Officer, the Stewards gave permission for WAVE POWER (IRE), placed fourth, not to enter the unsaddling enclosure.
The Stewards held an enquiry following a complaint by the representative of Patrick Griffin, the trainer of STRONGPOINT (IRE), unplaced, as to why RORY BOY (USA), unplaced, was allowed to run following its unruly behaviour at the start, which resulted in his horse being hampered when the race was started. Having heard his evidence, that of the Starter, and viewed recordings of the start, the Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the British Horseracing Authority.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, EPEE CELESTE (FR), ridden by Miss Alice Mills and trained by Michael Chapman, compared with its previous run at Uttoxeter on the 1 July where the mare finished unplaced, beaten approximately 44 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that EPEE CELESTE (FR) was better suited by being able to dominate in a less competitive race. They ordered EPEE CELESTE (FR) to be routine tested.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference on the bend after the second last hurdle. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that TOUGH TALKIN MAN (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Miss Rachel Blackmore, had interfered with the winner CONSTANT CONTACT, ridden by Lucy Alexander. The Stewards found Miss Blackmore in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that she allowed her mount to drift in on the bend without taking sufficient steps to prevent interference. They suspended her for 3 days as follows: Thursday 30 August 2012 and on 2 further dates which will be notified to her by the British Horseracing Authority.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Miss Rachel Blackmore, the rider of TOUGH TALKIN MAN (IRE), placed fourth, from the second last hurdle. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found her in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that she used her whip above the permitted level and without giving her mount time to respond. The Stewards suspended Miss Blackmore for 5 days on dates which will be notified to her by the British Horseracing Authority.
The Stewards held an enquiry following a complaint by Richie McGrath, the rider of BOLLIN FELIX, unplaced, in that he had not been given a fair start. The Stewards called before them all of the riders of Race 6 and heard evidence from Richie McGrath, the Starter, the Starter’s Assistant and Jason Maguire, the rider of CHARMINSTER (IRE), unplaced. Having heard their evidence and viewed video recordings of the start, the Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the British Horseracing Authority.

Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The enquiry will be concluded at Market Rasen on Sunday 5 August 2012
The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Jamie Moore, the rider of BALLYBOUGH GORTA (IRE), placed second, from the end of the back straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Moore for 2 days as follows: Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August 2012.

The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the four furlong marker between the winner, GOLDEN COMPASS, ridden by Adam Beschizza, and BERMONDSEY BOB (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Ryan While. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they were satisfied that no interference had taken place.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, MUNSARIM (IRE), ridden by Frederik Tylicki and trained by Richard Fahey, compared with its previous run at Musselburgh on 2 June where the gelding finished seventh of nine, beaten by 15 lengths. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the gelding was better suited by a return to claiming company.
