  • Ascot, 23 June 2012

    The Stewards held an enquiry, adjourned from Ascot on 22 June 2012, into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that GLOBAL VILLAGE (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Kieren Fallon, had interfered with DECENT FELLA (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Jimmy Fortune, who then interfered with EMILIO LARGO, unplaced, ridden by Tom Queally. The Stewards found Fallon in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left-handed away from the whip. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Sunday 8 and Monday 9 July 2012.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the reason why Jimmy Fortune left the course within 5 minutes of the “Weighed In” announcement being given, when required to attend an enquiry. Having heard his evidence they found him in breach of Rule (D)47.5 and fined him £290.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Maxime Guyon, the rider of RESTIADARGENT (FR), placed third, from approaching the furlong marker. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Guyon for 4 days as follows: Sunday 8, Monday 9, Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 July 2012.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into why Luke Nolen, the rider of the winner BLACK CAVIAR (AUS), had stopped riding on the run to the line. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race the Stewards noted his explanation that the mare is usually relaxed and coasts home but in this race she stopped underneath him and he felt she was not herself. He added that he underestimated the stiffness of the six furlong track here at Ascot. The Stewards also drew his attention to Rule (B)59.3 Negligence By Rider.

    The Stewards noted that MORACHE MUSIC, placed fourth, had interfered with the winner, DANDY BOY, who then interfered with MAAREK, placed sixth, who then interfered with DUNGANNON, placed fifth, who then interfered with HAWKEYETHENOO (IRE), placed third approaching the final furlong but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards noted that ANATOLIAN, unplaced, and SPANISH DUKE, unplaced, had interfered with STAND TO REASON (IRE), unplaced, a furlong out but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference on the final bend between SEASIDE SIZZLER, placed sixth, ridden by Jim Crowley, the winner, SIMENON (IRE), ridden by Ryan Moore and ROMEO MONTAGUE, placed third, ridden by Johnny Murtagh. Having heard their evidence and viewed a recording of the race they found that no interference had taken place.

    The Starter reported that VANITY’S GIRL (IRE), trained by John Quinn, refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

    The Stewards noted that IMPERIAL LEGEND (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with DAZZLIN BLUEBELL (IRE), unplaced, approaching the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards noted that IMPERIAL LEGEND (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with PAVERS STAR, unplaced, inside the final furlong, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

    The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ELUSIVE BONUS (IRE), ridden by David Bergin and trained by David O’Meara, compared with its previous run at Carlisle on 28 May, where the filly finished unplaced, beaten 15 lengths. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the filly was suited by the drop back to a five furlong trip.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference shortly after the start. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, ELUSIVE BONUS (IRE), ridden by David Bergin, had interfered with ONE KOOL DUDE, placed second, ridden by Ian Burns. The Stewards found Bergin in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift right thereby causing interference. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Sunday 8 and Monday 9 July 2012.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Jamie Spencer, the rider of AMADEUS WOLFE TONE (IRE), placed second, from one and a half furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Spencer for 2 days as follows: Sunday 8 and Monday 9 June 2012.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Sean Levey, the rider of the winner CAMPANOLOGY, from one and a half furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Levey for 2 days as follows: Sunday 8 and Monday 9 June 2012.

    The Stewards noted that HEERAAT (IRE), placed third, had interfered with TIOMAN PEARL, unplaced, approaching the furlong marker, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved HEERAAT (IRE)’s placing.

    The Starter reported that SHEBEBI (USA), trained by John Dunlop, was unruly in the stalls, broke out and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the colt could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Royston Ffrench, the rider of KING OF WINDSOR (IRE), in the final furlong. They interviewed the rider. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by the gelding stumbling. Being satisfied that no other horse or rider was involved, the Stewards took no further action.

    The Stewards held an enquiry regarding RED ROAR (IRE), ridden by Paddy Aspell and trained by Alan Berry, which had been unruly on the way to the start and delayed the race. They interviewed the trainer. Having heard his evidence the Stewards informed the trainer that future similar behaviour may result in the mare being reported to the British Horseracing Authority.

    The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Jason Hart, the rider of PROPHESY (IRE), placed second, in the home straight. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip above the permitted level. The Stewards suspended Hart for 2 days as follows: Sunday 8 and Monday 9 July 2012.

  • Lingfield Park, 23 June 2012

    The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the reason why Cathy Gannon, the rider of FROSTED OFF, unplaced, had appeared to ease her horse prematurely. Having heard her evidence and viewed recordings of the race they noted her explanation that a pin had slipped through the leather of her left stirrup.

    The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, MODERN TUTOR, ridden by Pat Dobbs, had interfered with SIGNOR SASSI, placed second, ridden by Neil Callan, and that the interference had not improved MODERN TUTOR’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered. The Stewards found Dobbs in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his colt to drift right towards the rail. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Sunday 8 and Monday 9 July 2012.

    The Stewards noted that RED HERMES, unplaced, had interfered with CATO MINOR, unplaced, on the final bend, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
