Note: Prior to 3rd April 2006, the Jockey Club was the regulator of racing, and prior to July 2007 the Horseracing Regulatory Authority performed the same function.

Due to the water logging, the Stewards gave permission under BHA Official Procedure 2.8.5, for the stalls in the First Race to be moved to the outside.
The Stewards noted that the winner, POLAR CHIEF, had interfered with LADY MARGAEUX (IRE), unplaced, who in turn interfered with CHANT (IRE), placed fourth, inside the final two furlongs, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved POLAR CHIEF’s placing.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approximately three and a half furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that LADY MARGAEUX (IRE), unplaced ridden by Daniel Tudhope, had interfered with the winner, POLAR CHIEF, ridden by James Sullivan. They found the interference was accidental.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that IMPERIAL LEGEND (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Andrew Mullen had interfered with the winner, ALNAIR (IRE), ridden by Daniel Tudhope. The Stewards found Mullen in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to drift left without taking sufficient steps to prevent the interference. They suspended him for 1 day as follows: Tuesday 7 August 2012.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that there was interference between ELEGANT GIRL (IRE), placed second, ridden by David Allan and IMPERIAL LEGEND (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Andrew Mullen. They found the interference was accidental.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Lee Newman, the rider of ANGELO POLIZIANO, unplaced, had been slow to remove the blindfold. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the start they noted his explanation that the blindfold had become stuck on the bridle.

The Stewards noted that AMERICAN IMPACT (USA), placed third, had interfered with ANNIE BESANT, unplaced, approaching one furlong out, but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved AMERICAN IMPACT (USA)’s placing.
The Stewards also noted that ANNIE BESANT, unplaced, had interfered with NOT NOW BLONDIE, placed fourth, just after the start, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ELUSIVE HAWK (IRE), ridden by Tom Queally and trained by Barney Curley, compared with its previous run at Doncaster on 12 July where the gelding finished eleventh of thirteen, beaten by 24 lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding had been suited by the good to firm ground, drop in trip and had also benefited from the application of stick-on shoes. They ordered ELUSIVE HAWK (IRE) to be routine tested.
The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, SPEEDYFIX, ridden by Jimmy Quinn and trained by Christine Dunnett , compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 2 July where the gelding finished seventh of eight, beaten by 5¾ lengths. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding had benefited from running in a weaker race.

The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, SUN TZU (IRE), ridden by Tom O’Brien and trained by Peter Bowen, compared with its previous run on soft ground at Uttoxeter on 7 June where the gelding was pulled up. They noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding appreciated the good ground. They ordered SUN TZU (IRE) to be routine tested.
The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference approaching the second flight in the home straight on the second circuit. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, ROYAL SCOUNDREL (IRE), ridden by Denis O’Regan, had interfered with SUPRALUNARY, unplaced, ridden by Lee Edwards, which in turn interfered with SALT AND VINEGAR (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Sam Jones. The Stewards found O’Regan in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding in that he allowed his horse to drift left without taking sufficient corrective measures. They cautioned him as to his future conduct in races.

The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found that the winner, KHEFYN (IRE), ridden by James Doyle, had interfered with SENORA LOBO (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Royston Ffrench, which in turn interfered with WORDSAPLENTY (IRE), placed second, ridden by Liam Keniry. They found the interference was accidental and had not improved KHEFYN (IRE)’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, KHEFYN (IRE), ridden by James Doyle and trained by Ronald Harris, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer, who stated that the colt may have been suited by the good ground having previously run on much softer going. Having heard his evidence, the Steward forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of KHEFYN (IRE) could be reviewed.
The Stewards called before them Stephen Craine, the rider, and Daniel Loughnane, the trainer, of JUST FOR MARY, unplaced, and asked them to explain why the gelding had arrived at the start two minutes after the scheduled off-time. Having heard their evidence, the Stewards accepted their explanation that they had not intended JUST FOR MARY to be so slow going to post but that the tongue strap had come loose leaving the parade ring and had to be re-fitted.
