Brant Dunshea
Chief Executive Officer
Brant was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) in March 2026, having held the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer since January 2025.
Before that, Brant was the BHA’s Chief Regulatory Officer from April 2018, and had previously been in the post of Director of Integrity and Regulatory Operations since September 2016. He joined the BHA as Head of Raceday Operations in March 2015.
As Chief Executive Officer, Brant is responsible for leading the BHA, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the governing bodies responsibilities. He leads the organisations stakeholder engagement, including with industry and external stakeholders, the media, and those involved in the political sphere. Reporting to the Board, Brant is accountable for the financial management of the BHA and ensuring compliance with good governance principles.
Representing Britain internationally, he is a member of the Executive Council of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), Vice Chair of the European and Mediterranean Horseracing Federation (EMHF), and Chair of the European Horseracing Scientific Liaison Committee (EHSLC).
Brant is an experienced racing administrator having held various senior roles within racing-related industries in Britain and Australia. As Chief Regulatory Officer, he also has responsibility for all raceday, and non-raceday integrity and regulatory functions across British Racing.
Prior to joining the BHA, Brant was Chief Operating Officer with Harness Racing Victoria, Australia, where he was responsible for all commercial and operational aspects of the organisation. He holds a Bachelor of Legal Studies (Victoria University) and Graduate Diploma Sports Law (University of Melbourne).
