How to apply for a Trainers Licence

To apply for a Licence to Train, applicants will need to ensure they have completed the modular training programme and meet the requirements set out in the Guidance Notes. Once read, applicants should submit an application. Most of the documents required are outlined on the application form with templates provided to assist the applicant. Once submitted, a member of the Licencing Team will be in touch.

How to apply for a Permit to Train?

To apply for a Permit to Train, applicants must have attended Module 1 of the Modular Training Programme and read the Guidance Notes in full. As a minimum, applicants are expected to have had several years’ experience either in a senior role at a BHA-Licensed yard or running their own Point-to-Point yard. Full criteria are set out in the Guidance Notes below. Details of required training yards and facilities are also included within the Guidance Notes.

A Permit Trainer may only train horses owned by themselves or immediate family members to run under Jump rules.

How to apply for a Training Partnership? 

To apply for a Training Partnership, both partnership entities are required to meet the BHA’s existing pre-requisite levels of competency and capability, together with each having completed all the necessary BHA Modular Training in their own right, to be considered eligible.
