- Six additional Twilight Fixtures added to satisfy demand in the autumn
- Fixtures should create additional Levy income
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced details of an additional six Twilight fixtures to be held on Tuesdays at Kempton Park and Wolverhampton from the end of September to early November.
Evidence has shown that the horse population at this time of year should deliver competitive field sizes. In consultation with stakeholders and the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB), it has therefore decided to offer these additional opportunities to racecourses and horsemen.
Due to sunset times, only floodlit tracks were invited to apply to stage the fixtures. The HBLB will contribute £2,500 per race in addition to the prize money contributed by each racecourse.
The programme at all fixtures will be constructed by the BHA Racing Department and will consist of six races commencing approximately 10 minutes after the last afternoon race. The race programmes will appear on the Racing Admin site in due course.
Dates and venues for the fixtures are as follows:
|Tuesday 30 Sep (AWT)||Wolverhampton||Approximate start time 5.50pm|
|Tuesday 7 Oct (AWT)||Kempton Park||Approximate start time 5.35pm|
|Tuesday 14 Oct (AWT)||Wolverhampton||Approximate start time 5.30pm|
|Tuesday 21 Oct (AWT)||Kempton Park||Approximate start time 5.30pm|
|Tuesday 28 Oct (AWT)||Wolverhampton||Approximate start time 4.40pm|
|Tuesday 4 Nov (AWT)||Kempton Park||Approximate start time 4.30pm|
Work continues to be undertaken by BHA following the recent fixtures consultation, particularly with regard to measures to address small field sizes at other times of the year.
