After further rainfall this week, the Steeple Chase course at Taunton is now waterlogged in places. With the forecast suggesting there will be more wet weather before racing, Taunton, in conjunction with the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Inspectorate, has been forced to abandon the Steeple Chases scheduled for Tuesday 18 February.
In response, the BHA Racing Department has programmed an additional Hurdle race in an attempt to safeguard this fixture. The card will now be made up of five Hurdle races and a Standard Open National Hunt Flat race.
Taunton’s going on the Hurdles course is currently described as Heavy.
The new race will be free to enter and close at noon on Saturday 15 February. Declarations are to be made in line with the existing races by 10am on Monday 17 February.
A new, revised running order follows below:
2:05 31034 The Aspen Waite R & D Specialists Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5)
2:35 31033 The EBF Stallions Mares’ ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle Race (Class 4)
