AYR’S FLAT COURSE CURRENTLY UNRACEABLE

20 May 2013 Pre-2014 Releases

The Flat course at Ayr has failed to recover sufficiently from drainage work in time to stage meetings in early June. Therefore, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has granted permission for the fixture on Wednesday, 5th June, to be transferred to the Jumps course. Furthermore, the BHA has agreed to transfer the fixture on Thursday, 6th June, to Thirsk.

Due to the configuration of the jumps course at Ayr, only four starts will be available for use on 5th June. Therefore, five of the original seven races will be abandoned and replaced by new opportunities. Details of the abandoned races and their replacements can be found below. However, races on 6th June at Thirsk will be very similar to those originally published, save for adjustments to safety factors and distance descriptions. All races for both fixtures will close for entries and declarations according to the normal schedule.

The abandoned races on 5th June are as follows:

2:10 13163 THE E.B.F. EMPLOYMENT ENTERPRISE 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 4) 6f
2:40 13167 THE GEOFFREY AND LILY HELLINGS MEMORIAL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) 6f
3:10 13162 THE EMPLOYMENT ENTERPRISE SCOTLAND: NATION OF ENTERPRISE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) 7f 50yds
3:40 13164 THE JIM AND MARGARET SMITH MEMORIAL FILLIES’ HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) 1m
4:40 13161 THE EMPLOYMENT ENTERPRISE 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) 5f

These will be replaced by:

2:10 18973 1m 6f 3+ Maiden
2:40 18977 1m 1f 4+ 46-60 Handicap
3:10 18972 1m 6f 4+ 66-85 Handicap
3:40 18974 1m 1f 4+ 51-70 Handicap (Fillies and Mares)
4:40 18971 1m 2f 4+ 71-90 Handicap

Richard Johnstone, Managing Director at Ayr Racecourse, said:

“The long, cold spring has meant that the turf has not recovered as we would have hoped and expected. These transfers will mean that we have every confidence in Flat Racing returning to Ayr on June 22nd.”

Full race conditions can be found under Fixtures and Races on the BHA’s Racing Admin website.
