BHA confirms rescheduling of Hampton Novices’ Chase to Windsor on Sunday 18 January

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today confirmed that the Grade 2 Hampton Novices’ Chase has been rescheduled to Windsor on Sunday 18 January, following the abandonment of Warwick’s fixture on Saturday.

Supporting the development of Britain’s novice chasers is a key priority for the BHA, and the three-mile contest has been rescheduled to ensure there is a suitable upcoming Pattern opportunity for horses in this division.

The race will reopen for entries tomorrow, Tuesday 13 January.

Consideration was also given to rescheduling the William Hill Half A Mill Classic Chase, which was abandoned alongside the Hampton on Saturday. However, the decision has been made not to reschedule this race due to the number of alternative opportunities in the existing race programme for the horses that had intended to run. That includes, for example, the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock this coming Saturday, which four of the Classic Chase field have today entered.

The BHA is grateful to the Horserace Betting Levy Board for its contribution to the funding of prize money for the rescheduled Hampton Novices’ Chase, and to Windsor Racecourse for hosting.
