BHB REACTS TO AT THE RACES JUDGMENT

21 Dec 2005 Pre-2014 Releases

Commenting on the Judgment handed down today in the At The Races v British Horseracing Board case, BHB Chief Executive Greg Nichols said:

“We are extremely disappointed and surprised by the Judgment.

“We nevertheless note that Justice Etherton has explicitly said that, irrespective of any intellectual property, database or other rights, “BHB has, in the data, a valuable commodity for which it is entitled to charge”.

“Equally, the Judgment concerns only the price charged by BHB to broadcasters such as ATR supplying data to non-Irish overseas bookmakers.

“There are a number of other aspects of the Judgment which will require full consideration, and therefore no premature conclusions should be drawn.”
