Fraser Garrity Appointed Manager of Racecourse and Point to Point Department

Published: 7 August 2000

Fraser Garrity has been appointed Manager of the Jockey Club’s Racecourse and Point to Point Department. Fraser, currently Clerk of the Course at Windsor, will take up his new position in September.

Fraser, who is 30 years old, will be familiar with many of the responsibilities and personnel involved with the role as he was previously Deputy Manager of the department, working under Simon Claisse. He also worked in the BHB’s Racing Department as Jump Race Programmer prior to moving into racecourse management with his appointment at Windsor in September 1998.

Together with Lisa Rowe, Fraser was on the racing industry’s Graduate Development Programme in 1993 before taking a job with the Jockey Club in the Racecourse and Point to Point Department in October of that year.

Speaking on the appointment, Fraser said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Portman Square and getting reacquainted with all the friends and contacts I made during my first spell with the Jockey Club. I have enjoyed my time at Windsor, and I’m sure the experience of being involved with the day to day running of a racecourse will prove to be invaluable in my new role.”

The position as Manager of the Racecourse and Point to Point Department became available following the decision of Charlie Lane to resign. The Jockey Club wishes him all the best for the future.
