The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that the fixture due to take place at Hereford on Tuesday 14 November has been transferred to Worcester.
This is due to the risk of ‘Hard’ going at Hereford, where the going is currently good to firm, firm in places. There is a dry weather forecast and limited capacity to water.
The card will reflect the races programmed for Hereford with race distances adjusted to Worcester’s race starts and safety factors where necessary.
Entries for the races at Worcester will re-open and close at noon on Saturday, 11 November and declare as normal at the 24-hour stage on Monday, 13 November.
Full details and race conditions can be found on the BHA Racing Admin site, www2.racingadmin.co.uk.
Emma Marley, the BHA’s Head of Raceday Operations, said: “Having walked the course this morning, our Inspectorate took a joint decision with Hereford to transfer Tuesday’s fixture to Worcester.
“We must always put the welfare of our participants, both equine and human, first and I am confident that Tuesday’s meeting at Worcester will be successful based on the fixture transfer between the two courses last month.”
Jon Pullin, Racing Director at Arena Racing Company, said: “Due to the unseasonably dry weather conditions and lack of recent rainfall at Hereford Racecourse the going is currently Good to Firm, Firm in places.
“With little rain forecast in the coming days and no possibility of watering between now and racing, in consultation with the BHA Inspectorate and several trainers who had made entries, it has been agreed the fixture will move to Worcester Racecourse which can provide good jumping ground.
As we have said before, we are in an advanced stage of commencing the construction of a reservoir to ensure full watering capabilities at Hereford from next spring. Customers with tickets or hospitality bookings for Hereford’s fixture on Tuesday can transfer them and either attend racing at Worcester on 14 November or to any remaining Hereford fixture this season.
