Lingfield Park Saturday 18 June: Turf racing abandoned, All Weather card programmed

15 Jun 2016 Racing/Fixtures
  • Turf course waterlogged
  • New All Weather races to close tomorrow, Thursday 16 June

The Turf course at Lingfield is currently waterlogged in places and with further rain forecast the acting Clerk Of The Course, in conjunction with the BHA Inspectorate, has been forced to abandon the Turf card programmed for Saturday, 18 June.

In response, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA)’s Racing Department has programmed a seven race card on Lingfield’s All Weather track.  Although these races are broadly similar to the ones originally programmed on Turf, trainers should be aware they are new races which must be separately entered and declared for.  Original entries in the abandoned Turf races will not be carried over.

Races will close at noon on Thursday, 16 June, with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Friday, 17 June.  Revised race conditions are available on the BHA’s Racing Admin website, www.racingadmin.co.uk, under “Fixtures and Races”.

With regard to other meetings taking place on Saturday, 18 June, the Jockeys’ declaration deadline will be extended until 2pm on Thursday, 16 June, in order that connections have the opportunity to see provisional entries at Lingfield prior to committing jockeys elsewhere.

Ed Arkell, Clerk of the Course at Lingfield Park, said:

“Despite the difficult conditions we are pleased to be able to ensure that racing can go ahead, and that trainers have been given the full information ahead of declarations being made on Friday.”
