NOTICE OF FORTHCOMING DISCIPLINARY PANEL HEARINGS (GAVIN SHEEHAN, CARL LLEWELLYN, RAY WILLIAMS)

9.30 am – Gavin Sheehan

The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) on Thursday 10 April 2014 will consider an appeal lodged by Gavin Sheehan, the rider of DOLATULO (FR), the winner of the Great Value Wines From Bordeaux Undiscovered Handicap Chase, against the decision of the Stewards at Stratford to find him guilty of careless riding and suspending him from riding for four days, following an enquiry on 29 March 2014. Also, against the decision of the Stewards to find that DOLATULO (FR) had interfered with BENSBENS (IRE), placed second, and that the interference had improved DOLATULO (FR)’s placing, and to reverse the placings.

11.00am – Carl Llewellyn

The Disciplinary Panel of the BHA will hold an enquiry on Thursday 10 April 2014 to consider whether or not Carl Llewellyn has committed a breach of Rule (A)30 of the Rules of Racing in that the comments made by him at a Cheltenham preview event at the Hollow Bottom Public House on Monday 10 March 2014 were prejudicial to the good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain.

This hearing was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday 3 April but was postponed at the request of Carl Llewellyn’s representation.

12.00pm – Ray Williams

The Disciplinary Panel of BHA will hold an enquiry on Thursday 10 April 2014 to consider the following charge:

Is Mr Ray Williams, a Permitted Trainer at the time of the alleged breach, in breach of Rule (A)40 of the Rules of Racing in that, on 26 July 2013 at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court Mr Williams was convicted of a criminal offence related to racing, namely causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, specifically a thoroughbred racehorse, by a failure to act, contrary to section 4(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 2006?
