Plus 10 announces new sale proceeds payment option

07 Aug 2014

Plus 10 bonus scheme and the major bloodstock sales houses are pleased to announce a new payment option for breeders and consignors who will market yearlings at bloodstock sales in the first year of the scheme.

Consignors can now elect to pay the £200 (€250) Yearling Registration fee out of their horse’s sale proceeds at upcoming sales, thereby marketing their horse with the advantage of Plus 10 registration, without the immediate financial burden.

For new owners this equates to securing a horse which is two-thirds of the way registered and for which only the final Owner Registration fee needs to be paid before the horse is qualified to race for the £10,000 Plus 10 bonuses.

A horse’s Plus 10 payment stage will be clearly visible in the sales ring, with Yearling Registered horses featuring yellow rump stickers and stable door cards and Foal Registered horses featuring light blue rump cards and stable door cards.

To take up this option consignors must have paid the Foal Registration fee. There will be an administration fee of £4/€5 also deducted from the sale proceeds.

If a horse is not sold in the ring, the consignor has the option to pay the Yearling Registration fee by the payment deadline of 15 December 2014. If they fail to do so the horse will become ineligible for the scheme.

Julian Richmond-Watson, Plus 10 Committee Chairman said:

“Since the launch of Plus 10 we have considered industry feedback and after consulting with the bloodstock sales houses, we are pleased to be able to offer breeders and consignors the option of paying the Yearling Registration fee out of sale proceeds.

“We hope this offer provides consignors with the opportunity to market their horses with the advantage of Plus 10 registration, without the immediate financial burden.

“We are extremely pleased with the number of registrations we have received in the two weeks Plus 10 has been open for business and thank breeders and consignors for their support.”

The decision was made after consulting with Tattersalls and Tattersalls Ireland, Doncaster Bloodstock Sales, Goffs, Brightwells and Goresbridge Bloodstock Sales and considering industry feedback.

To take up this offer:

  • Consignors who have returned their Foal Registration form must sign and return the Sale Proceeds Agreement (available at www.plus10bonus.com) to Weatherbys
  • Consignors who have not returned their Foal Registration form to Weatherbys should fill out the 2013 Foals registration form (available at www.plus10bonus.com), ticking boxes A and B to indicate payment of both Foal and Yearling Registration fees. You should include payment for ONLY the Foal Registration portion of the horses listed (£150/€187.50 per horse) and return to Weatherbys with a signed Sale Proceeds Agreement
  • Consignors who have already paid the Foal and Yearling Registration fees are not impacted by this offer. Please note: should your yearling be unsold in the sales ring, you have the option of receiving a refund of the Yearling Registration fee only.

Consignors are reminded the Yearling Registration fee for 2013 foals is due by 15 December 2014. It is not necessary to have paid this fee before the horse enters the sales ring if consignors do not elect to take up this offer.
