PROVISIONAL ALL-HURDLE CARD PROGRAMMED FOR MARKET RASEN ON SUNDAY 16 FEBRUARY

12 Feb 2014 Racing/Fixtures

With recent rain and forecasts suggesting current weather patterns are set to continue, the British Horseracing Authority’s (BHA) Racing Department has programmed a provisional all-Hurdle card at Market Rasen on Sunday 16 February, in an attempt to safeguard this fixture. This will consist of the three Hurdle races and one National Hunt Flat race originally scheduled, plus three additional Hurdle race opportunities.

Market Rasen’s going is currently described as Soft on the Hurdle course.

Jane Hedley, Clerk of the Course at Market Rasen, reported:

“Both tracks are currently raceable. However, if the forecast rain materialises, we would have concerns over the fitness of the Chase track. In light of the forecast, which predicts we could have a further 20-30mm of rain between now and Sunday, we have asked for three provisional Hurdle races to replace the Chases. The ultimate decision on whether to switch to an all-Hurdle card will be made by 8:30am on Friday. We remain very hopeful that the Hurdle track will remain fit to race.”

All provisional races will be free to enter and will close at noon on Thursday 13 February.

Should these races subsequently be activated, they will close for declarations, in line with the existing races, at 10am on Friday 14 February.

A provisional, revised running order is outlined below:
1:50 31004 The Watch Racing UK On Sky 432 Novices’ Hurdle Race (Class 4)
2:20 31005 The Rasen Rocks In August Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4)
