With current conditions at Southwell proving a challenge and more rain forecast for the region, the British Horseracing Authority’s (BHA) Racing Department has programmed a provisional card of ‘Jumpers’ Bumpers’ to take place in the event that the Turf fixture is abandoned.
Partially funded by the Horserace Betting Levy Board, the six race card will be made up of five events primarily aimed at Steeple Chasers and Hurdlers, plus one Maiden Open National Hunt Flat race. With divisions, a maximum of eight races are possible.
Ordinarily, under the Rules of Racing, horses which have run in Steeple Chases or Hurdle Races are not eligible to run in National Hunt Flat races, so BHA has modified the Rules with regard to this fixture.
The track will be produced with the aim of broadly replicating turf conditions described as ‘good’ ground.
The races close at noon on Friday 14 February, with declarations to run to be made by 10.00am on Sunday 16 February. Full race conditions are available on the Racing Admin website under Fixtures and Races
