RACE ABANDONED AT WARWICK 24 APRIL

17 Apr 2014 Racing/Fixtures

The Warwick Racecourse Executive, in conjuction with British Horseracing Authority’s (BHA) Racecourse Inspectorate, has reported that the area around the one mile, two furlongs about 202 yards start is unraceable. As a result, The Racing UK Handicap Stakes (Class 4), race 41712, on Thursday, 24 April has been abandoned. It will be replaced by a handicap to be run over about one mile (8f abt 20 yards).

Race conditions for the new race are set out below and can also be found on the Racing Admin website, www.racingadmin.co.uk. The race will close according to the usual schedule and the order of running for the day will remain unchanged.

Sulekha Varma, Clerk of the Course at Warwick, said:

“Due to a damaged drainage pipe creating an area of going materially different to the rest of the track, it is necessary to amend the distance of our planned 1m 2f 202yds Class 4 Handicap on our 24th April fixture before entries, to become a 1m contest. Unexpected issues will arise from time to time and it is disappointing to have to make this change. However, we always put welfare first, so it is the necessary course of action and agreed in conjunction with the BHA Course Inspectorate. We hope to resolve this problem swiftly and no other races at the fixture are affected.”
