On 23rd July 2013 the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Appeal Board heard an appeal by James Clutterbuck against the decision of the Disciplinary Panel dated 29th April 2013, whereby Mr Clutterbuck was disqualified for 30 months for breaches of Rules (A)36.1 and (A)41.2 of the Rules of Racing.

The grounds of appeal were that the reasons given by the Panel were insufficient to support the decision and that the sanction was disproportionate.

The Appeal was allowed, and for 30 months the Appeal Board substituted a disqualification of 26 months from 29th April 2013 to 28th June 2015 inclusive.
