REVIEW GROUP TO CONSIDER BHB STRUCTURE

25 Jul 2001 Pre-2014 Releases

BHB Chairman, Peter Savill, said today:†_x001C_The racing industry is currently undergoing significant changes as it moves towards the abolition of the Levy Board, the introduction of a commercial mechanism to replace the levy and the acquisition of the Tote by a Racing Trust.

“These developments require the BHB to plan the most effective way to manage this change and I therefore recommended to the Board at our 16th July meeting that we set up a Structure Review Group comprising myself, Martin Broughton, Tristram Ricketts and the four heads of the member organisations of the BHB to review what changes, if any, would enable us to best handle these developments.

“We shall be looking at the best structure for BHB to discharge both its governance and commercial responsibilities and the most effective way to integrate the appropriate Levy Board functions into Racing.

“The review will be ongoing and recommendations will be made as and when appropriate.”
