Joseph Dunn from East Kilbride has scooped first prize in a national racecard competition run by the British Horseracing Board, which entitles him to take the trip of a lifetime to see the $5 million Dubai World Cup, held at Nad Al Sheba racetrack on Saturday 27 March.
Mr Dunn decided to enter the contest when Sunday racing at Ayr last November and correctly named Earth Summit as the winning horse in the 1998 Martell Grand National.
He normally enjoys a day’s racing at his local course Hamilton and is understandably thrilled at the prospect of seeing one of the world’s most valuable horse races at first hand.
“”My wife and I enjoy a good day’s racing and although we are by no means experts, it doesn’t stop us appreciating the thrill of the race. We are looking forward to our Dubai trip and experiencing racing in the desert,”” he said.
