Following the abandonment of racing at Sandown Park on Saturday 4 January the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is pleased to announce that the Tolworth Hurdle Race (Grade 1) has been transferred to Kempton Park on Saturday 11 January 2014.

The race will be re-opened and entries close at noon on Tuesday 7 January. Declarations to run should be made by 10am on Friday 10 January 2014. The race will be broadcast live on Channel 4 and will form part of an eight race card.

The BHA is grateful to the Levy Board and Kempton Park for their assistance in rescheduling this Grade 1 event.

Tasha Power, Levy Board Head of Operations said:

“With the recent wet weather it was a shame to lose the Tolworth Hurdle just two months before Cheltenham as it provides an important opportunity. We generally look to support restaging Grade 1 races and therefore the Levy Board has provided £20,000 in prize money.”
