Chief Medical Adviser

The BHA is seeking a Chief Medical Adviser to provide expert strategic, and operational, advice regarding overall medical standards for approximately 1300 professional and amateur riders, including monitoring compliance with those standards. The successful candidate will have proven experience as a GP or specialist, will have previously worked in professional sport, and have experience and training in pre-hospital trauma care. Ideally you will have managed medical teams and major events, but it is essential to have a strong understanding of good clinical governance. Such experience will enable you to oversee the riders’ injury reporting system, advise on clearing riders following injury, occasionally examine riders in a clinical setting, manage protocols such as that relating to concussion, and advise on medical aspects of licence applications.

Finance, Grants and Contracts Business Partner

The BHA is looking to recruit an integral new role as Finance, Grants and Contracts Business Partner, reporting into the Senior Finance Business Partner. This role will manage all BHA led and coordinated stakeholder grant applications to industry funders (including HBLB, Racing Foundation), support with internal monthly management accounts reporting, as well as the key industry forums such as the Industry Programme Board, and be responsible for leading the proactive management of the BHA’s major contracts including LGC (equine drug testing) and Weatherby’s (racing administration).

Regional Development Officer – Retraining of Racehorses (RoR)

Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) is British Horseracing’s official equine charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing. In order to further develop the RoR regional education and community support programme, RoR are seeking a professional and self-motivated individual who will oversee delivery of RoR activity within the Northern Region. Key responsibilities of the RDOs will be to manage and develop RoR activity in their allocated region, deliver specific educational events, expand the regional RoR community support network, manage the regional budgets and accounts and recruit and manage RoR regional volunteers. This position is part‐time, with a fixed salary based on two days’ work per week.
