Musselburgh’s 7 November fixture moved to all-hurdle card

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that Musselburgh’s fixture on Wednesday 7 November will be an all-hurdle card.

This is to allow for watering to be concentrated on the hurdles track following the recent spell of dry weather.

The two chases originally programmed for Musselburgh’s fixture have been re-arranged as follows:

  • Novices’ handicap chase (Class 4) (0-105) 2m4f – moved to Kelso 10 November
  • Handicap chase (Class 4) (0-105) 2m – moved to Ayr 14 November

The all-hurdle card at Musselburgh on 7 November, which will have two new races alongside the four originally planned, will close as normal at 12 noon on Thursday 1 November with declarations at the 24-hour stage.

Full race programme and further fixture details are now available via the Racing Admin site,  www2.racingadmin.co.uk.

Nick Dartnall, Race Planning Executive at the BHA, said:

“Whilst it is disappointing to lose the two chases at Musselburgh next week, an all-hurdle card allows the course to focus efforts on producing the best racing surface possible.

“Moving the two chases to Kelso and Ayr respectively represents the best outcome under the circumstances for the relevant sections of the horse population, both in the local area and more widely.”
