The British Horseracing Authority has today confirmed an additional afternoon All-Weather fixture at Southwell on Sunday 4 January 2026, in light of the forecast for cold weather over the coming days.

It is acknowledged that adding a Flat fixture into the programme may inconvenience some participants but based upon the information available at this time, the risk of a blank day is sufficient enough to add this fixture. The decision to do so has been taken at this stage to provide clarity and as much notice as possible.

Sunday’s fixture will be made up of seven races, with the ability to divide to nine if required. Entries will close at noon tomorrow (Wednesday 31 December) before declarations at 10am on Friday 2 January.

We are grateful to all who are able to support the fixture and to Southwell for staging it.

As this day did not originally have a Flat fixture programmed, the additional fixture will be rider restricted, in line with policy; the list of eligible riders is available on Racing Admin and is the same as was utilised for the rider restricted fixtures in November after the Flat Code break.
