RICHARD PHILLIPS BECOMES FIRST TRAINER TO SPONSOR A BHA GRADUATE SCHEME PLACEMENT

07 Apr 2011 Pre-2014 Releases

Richard Phillips has always been a racehorse trainer that shows innovation and forward thinking in his development of staff management. He is now extending this foresight by being the first trainer to sponsor a graduate placement of the hugely respected BHA Graduate Scheme.

The chosen graduate will spend eight weeks with Richard, working alongside him at Adlestrop Stables, gaining insight into the racehorses’ training programme and attending race meetings.

They will also work closely with Joline Saunders, running the busy racing office, developing an understanding of entries and declarations, accounting and communicating with owners.

Richard is keen to set the graduate a specific marketing project developing racehorse ownership and promotional initiatives.

TORI Global, Richard’s yard sponsors, said:

“People development is the backbone of what we do, so we think this is a fantastic opportunity for a young graduate to experience life in the real working world and for Phillips Racing to have the benefit of someone who has no preconceived ideas and can bring innovation and enthusiasm to the table. A true example of a win-win.”

Richard Phillips said:

“All at Adlestrop Stables are very much looking forward to the selected graduate joining our team, for what I am sure will be a mutually beneficial and exciting project.”

Sam Martin, Training Welfare and Community Associate from the British Horseracing Authority, said:

“We are really excited about this placement. Trainers’ businesses have not been represented before on the Scheme and this will be a great opportunity for someone to get closer to the action”
