The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has today announced that one race over 6 furlongs due to be run at Carlisle’s next fixture on Monday 21 May has been abandoned.

This is due to the 6 furlong start at Carlisle currently being unraceable.

A replacement race which is a 5f 61-80 Handicap for 3yo Fillies has been programmed in its place, full details of which are now available via www2.racingadmin.co.uk. Entries  for all seven races of the fixture will close as normal at 12 noon tomorrow, Tuesday 15 May.

Kirkland Tellwright, Clerk of the Course at Carlisle Racecourse, said:

“As a result of slow recovery of the turf following some remedial work which needed be done to the chute at the 6 furlong start, we have had to programme an alternative race for our next fixture on 21 May.

“We’re not currently anticipating any problems regarding using the start on our fixture on 7 June, but will continue to monitor the affected patch of ground closely.”
