05 Sep 2012 Pre-2014 Releases

Paul Roy, Chairman of the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) today spoke regarding the sad news that Lord Oaksey died peacefully in his sleep this morning, aged 83:

“Racing is very fortunate to have been the sport and industry which benefited most from John Oaksey’s remarkable talents and energy. Whether it was as a rider, a writer, a broadcaster or in his charity work, what was always apparent was John’s love of humanity and his admiration for the horse. In a lifetime dedicated to the sport, few have commanded such a level of affection and respect.”
