The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) can confirm that the next three fixtures scheduled to take place at Brighton Racecourse on Tuesday 28 April, Wednesday 29 April and Thursday 7 May have been moved to alternative racecourses.
The fixtures will now take place at the following venues:
- Tuesday 28 April – Yarmouth
- Wednesday 29 April – Bath
- Thursday 7 May – Windsor
This decision has been made by Arena Racing Company, in full agreement with the BHA Course Inspectorate, to allow time for the appropriate remedial work to be carried out on the track. The race programmes at all three fixtures will mirror the originally scheduled card as closely as possible, with full details to follow on Racing Admin.
Jack Hastings, Clerk of the Course at Brighton, said:
“After the abandonment of Saturday’s fixture at Brighton, further extensive course investigations are taking place. Samples from the localised affected areas of the track are already in the process of being analysed to establish the precise nature of the problem. We expect the full findings in the next couple of days and that will then inform the required next steps.
“Until we understand the nature of the remedial work required, with both equine and human safety in mind, the decision has been taken to transfer Brighton’s next three fixtures. In the meantime, the track continues to be watered and maintained in line with best practice.
“We apologise for the impact that these transfers may have and appreciate the support of all stakeholders in these unusual circumstances. We remain fully committed to getting Brighton’s 2026 season up and running as soon as is safely possible.”
