04 Dec 2002 Pre-2014 Releases

Chris John, a leading marketeer from the communications, sports and hospitality industry, has been appointed to the key position of BHB Marketing Director.

Known in marketing circles as a strong communicator, he will find his skills much in demand when he joins BHB on 9th December.

He formerly held senior marketing roles at Scottish & Newcastle, Dunlop Slazenger and latterly at Telewest Communications plc, where he was Marketing Director for the business division.

A lifelong racegoer and horse lover, the 43 year-old is also an owner and competes across several equestrian disciplines. Reporting to Chief Executive Greg Nichols, he will be responsible for all aspects of BHB marketing, including the promotion of racing, ownership, British bloodstock and sponsorship. He will also be spearheading a successor campaign to Discover Racing, which concludes its initial three-year programme in March 2003.

Greg Nichols said today: “We are delighted to have Chris on board. The combination of his outstanding leadership qualities, marketing expertise and passion for horseracing is a rare mix. I have no doubt that this appointment will be a real boon to the industry.”

Chris John commented: “I am thrilled to be offered the chance to work in Britain’s greatest sport – I look forward to spending time with the key industry groups and leading a marketing team that horseracing can be proud of. Don’t expect more of the same – I‘m not afraid to make changes.”
