BHB LAUNCHES OFFICIAL BRITISH RACING AWARDS

13 Nov 2003 Pre-2014 Releases

Official recognition of British Racing’s Flat champions will be given for the first time at the new BHB 2003 British Flat Racing Awards Press Conference & Luncheon in central London in January.

The Awards will be based on, and coincide with the publication of the International Classifications, which represent the benchmark by which international racing performances are judged.

A specially-invited audience of owners, trainers, jockeys, senior industry figures and the media will see a series of awards given by BHB to the top equine and human stars of the sport in Britain, including an overall Award for Horse of the Year.

BHB will also launch a similar National Hunt Awards ceremony at the end of the current season.

BHB Marketing Director Chris John said:

“The Awards give us a great opportunity to recognise the achievements of the sport’s equine and human champions. BHB’s awards will be unique, coming with the official backing of British Racing and being based on the International Classifications.

“The awards will be open to horses either trained in Britain or, if trained abroad, achieving the highest category rating on a British racetrack.

“We are also looking forward staging the National Hunt Awards for 2003/04, which we expect to stage in May. Our jumpers have a fantastic profile and attract great loyalty.

“Both events will give us a tremendous platform from which to help promote British Racing.”
