BHB STRENGTHENS ITS CONSUMER FOCUS

10 Oct 2005 Pre-2014 Releases

The British Horseracing Board’s marketing activity is to benefit from the expertise of a wide range of the sport’s stakeholders on the new British Racing Consumer Committee.

The Committee was set up last month under the Chairmanship of BHB Director Jim McGrath. It will meet quarterly, acting as a constructive forum through which British Racing’s major consumers, including punters and racegoers, can have strategic input into key areas of BHB’s marketing, in particular racing and betting campaigns.

Its formation also allows for greater BHB shareholder involvement in the sport’s central marketing function: the Committee will play an instrumental role in recommending an annual Marketing Plan to the BHB Board for approval.

The Committee is comprised as follows:

Jim McGrath BHB Director, Managing Director of Timeform
Stephen Atkin Racecourse Association Chief Executive
Simon Clare Director of Communications, Coral Bookmakers
Stephen Crown BHB Director, Racehorse Owners Association Vice President
Carl Hicks Senior Producer, BBC Sport
Chris John BHB Marketing Director
Alan Lee The Times Racing Correspondent
Nigel Payne Horseracing Sponsors Association Chief Executive

BHB Marketing Director Chris John said: “The central promotion and marketing of British Racing is one of BHB’s key responsibilities, and the British Racing Consumer Committee will enhance our work in this area.

“It will provide both a high-level forum through which the views of the sport’s key consumers will be discussed, and – due to the wealth of expertise on the Committee – valuable strategic input into our annual Marketing Plan.”
